Aloha! I'm Anela.

My love for puakenikeni began at my project graduation where we could only choose one lei to wear… I chose my puakenikeni lei. While I was away in Washington state for college, I found myself incredibly homesick. To remind myself of home, I wore flowers in my ear every day, including clay puakenikeni and fabric flowers. Over time, my affection for Washington grew, but my flowers always reminded me of my deep-rooted love for home.

 

When we bought our first home, my admiration for puakenikeni inspired me to plant a tree in our backyard. Although it didn’t grow as I’d hoped, I plan to try again with the help of my husband and seven wonderful children.

 

As a passionate entrepreneur, I channel my love for simple, authentic designs into designing beautiful bags that reflect the natural elegance of the puakenikeni flower. My ‘ohana, especially my supportive husband and kids, plays a crucial role in our business, assisting with everything from event setups to order fulfillment.

 

 

Why I Created Puakenikeni Designs®

Puakenikeni Designs® was born out of my deep love for puakenikeni and my passion for creating simple, beautiful bags. This business is not just a personal venture but a family endeavor, where my children are learning and helping with various aspects from setting up booths at events to packing orders. My dream is to pass down this business to my children, instilling in them the values of hard work, creativity, and the spirit of entrepreneurship.
